Description

The Westminster Chamber Orchestra is delighted to present 'An English Idyll', featuring music by Finzi, Howells, Holst, and Britten, as well as some lesser-known music by Bantock and Armstrong Gibbs. The orchestra has a special interest in British music and has created a varied programme including Britten's popular Simple Symphony and Finzi's exquisite Romance for Strings. Talented viola player George White, an orchestra member and former cathedral chorister, will perform Howells' beautiful Elegy for Solo Viola and Strings and the ensemble will continue its exploration of Bantock's music for strings. Armstrong Gibbs was a prolific composer of string music and the Suite for Strings will end the concert.
