On Tuesday 13 February learn to embroider in Ace Hotel with textiles designer Rebeckah Kemi Apara and founder of Embellished Talk.

During the 2-hour workshop Rebeckah will teach you how to hand sew using DMC embroidery threads to decorate a tote, drawstring bag or t-shirt (feel free bring in your own item). As Valentines Day’s around the corner why not create something for a loved one or just treat yourself, self-love. If you’re bringing in your own item cotton, denim, canvas and stiffer fabrics work best.

The workshop is aimed at beginners but all other levels are welcome and all sewing equipment will be provided.

Rebeckah graduated with a degree in Fashion Textiles at the London College of Fashion in 2007 and has since been perfecting her skills in hand embroidery and embellishments. She’s collaborated with GURLS TALK the platform founded by fashion model Adwoa Aboah. Previous workshops have taken place at WAH Nails, Boxpark Shoreditch, Palm Vaults, WeWork, Warehouse, Second Home, Ollie Quinn and in West Elm to help raise money for GIRLvsCANCER.

In May 2016 Rebeckah founded Embellished Talk her platform to explore textiles through digital content and creative workshops.

• A goody bag of sewing treats to continue your new skills at home
• A cotton tote, t-shirt or drawstring bag to work on during the workshop
• A break away from your phones and busy schedules. Using your hands is therapeutic, confidence boosting and good for your well-being
• An opportunity to learn new skills in an intimate setting that you can develop in your own time and add new personalised life to your clothes and/or interiors

In order to have a high-quality learning experience there’s a maximum of ten people in the workshop led by Rebeckah and her assistant.
