A band like no other, we don't just play we create!

SoundsCreative Ensemble is a half-term music project for young musicians (age 8 -14) who play a musical instrument and want to be in a band, get creative and compose some new music as a group.

This two-day workshop mixes band and classical instruments into one exciting musical pot. It is creative and social - we make, collaborate, improvise, re-shape and play! 

And there is always an informal end of project performance in the prestigious venue - The Vortex Jazz Club

More about the creative process:

A team of the SoundsCreative connected artists/musicians support the children in developing new skills in improvising, creating, and composing music as a band. The participants not only use their own instruments throughout the workshop but also use voice and body percussion to help create ideas for a new composition. (Notation reading not required, just bring your ideas, enthusiasm and your instrument!).

The experience of being in this creative band is like no other your young players will have experienced. For those learning classical instruments we take the notes away and play by ear, for those used to a band experience we play around with riffs and rhythms and work together to compose new innovative music, for those used to a folk playing experience the new melodies created will be entirely our own!

Who can join the band?

Partcipants need to be:

• between 8 - 14yrs old,
• able to play any musical instrument to a standard of grade 1/equivalent or above.
• have their own musical instrument to bring along to the projects (pianist places are limited so please get in touch before booking!)

There is no need to be able to read music and the great thing is, every project the band is slightly different depending on who has signed up.
