FAQ

When is the festival?

Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28th February 2016

Where is the festival?

Queens Hotel, Marine Parade, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 3DY

How do I get there?

Trains to Eastbourne run from London Victoria and across the South East including Brighton, Gatwick Airport and Ashford International. The town is very well connected! For more information: www.nationalrail.co.uk (Important notice: National Rail only publicise planned engineering work 3 months in advance so worth waiting to see if anything is happening to the line before buying tickets.)

Buses via National Express run from London Victoria to Eastbourne (though it takes a long time and costs about the same as the train). Stagecoach run local services across the South East.

Car Just pop the address in your sat nav to arrive at Queens Hotel. There’s plenty of onsite parking.

Airplane Seriously? Cool! Gatwick Airport is on the direct train line to Eastbourne. Shoreham Airport (which features in Poirot episodes) requires two trains to get to Eastbourne.

So, tell me more about the tickets?

We have three kinds of tickets…

Sleepover Tickets

Your accommodation for Friday and Saturday is included, plus breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. You have the option of paying for an additional night’s stay on Sunday, too, if you’re pulling a sickie on Monday! All the screenings and parties are included.

Non-sleepover Weekend Tickets

Includes all the screenings and parties, but no accommodation or breakfast.

Non-sleepover Day Passes

Come just for Friday, Saturday or Sunday’s events.

Can I just buy a ticket for myself?

Yes, but single rooms are limited (and cost slightly more), so be quick dear solo star. We strongly encourage attendees to book a twin room and bring their BFF or FFB (foxy film buddy). We obviously have doubles for coupled Overnighters!

What do I need to bring with me?

Towels and bedding are provided. Rooms are cleaned every day. Just bring what you’d bring to a hotel that doesn’t have a fabulous film festival.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed. However there are no cooking facilities in bedrooms except for a kettle. Remember if you’re sleeping over you have breakfast included and we have partnerships with local eateries for all festival attendees. Bringing your own alcohol is not permitted. There is a reasonably priced bar in the hotel that will be open all day!

How are the screenings going to work?

We’re converting the hotel’s splendid ballroom into a bespoke cinema equipped with 35mm, 16mm and digital projection capabilities. There will be nine film screenings spread over the weekend: one on Friday night, four on Saturday and four on Sunday. Our three guest curators will present two programmes each over the weekend. Our opening, closing and Sunday morning hangover programmes will be presented by the Overnight Film Festival team. There will of course be parties every night, so bring your dancing shoes!

On Saturday and Sunday we’ll have a break at lunch time and dinner (of 90 minutes duration) for you to head out of the hotel and explore the many varied delights of Eastbourne. We’re partnering with local businesses to get discounts on food. There are plenty of outstanding fish and chip shops nearby.

Our dreamy OFF community will have opportunities galore to talk film and much more over breakfast and via salons all around the magnificent Queens Hotel. Standby for surprises!

I’ve bought a non-sleepover or day pass: where do I collect my tickets?

Come to the information desk based in the hotel snug. We’ll have it waiting for you there!

When can I check in and check out?

Check-in from 2pm. Check-out by 11am. Luggage can be left at reception.

Can under-18s attend?

No, unfortunately, the festival is 18+ due to licensing restrictions.

How accessible are the hotel and screenings?

The hotel has good access for guests with movement issues. There is one stairlift (up a flight of nine steps) from the ground floor entrance and snug, up to the restaurant level where screenings are held. From this level there is a lift to all the higher floors that host accommodation. All the floors of Queens Hotel are flat and carpeted. We have a small amount of rooms with walk-in showers: these must be requested before 1st January 2016.

Unfortunately, due to the temporary nature of the cinema space we're unable to offer subtitles for deaf or those heard of hearing nor audio description tracks.

Can I take photos and/or videos?

Yes, please do! But obviously turn off your phone during screenings.

Also by entering the event site you agree to being filmed or photographed which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes.
