Description

A very special gig perfect for a Sunday night.

“I’m absolutely addicted... really affecting and beautiful” - Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music talking about Mesadorm.

Beautiful left-field, art-rock and electronica songs from revered Bristol band , Mesadorm . Hard-hitting alt-pop with a social conscience from local hero Martha Hill (solo performance) and progressive folk from George Boomsma.

What to expect: Mesadorm After a few years testing the mainstream stage with a major record deal Pepino has moved back to her roots as a left-field, art-rock and electronica song-writer. Here you will find her in happy harmony with Aaron Zahl who has recorded and produced the eagerly anticipated debut album fleshing out the musical world with his electronic sound scapery. Having known each other since they were teenagers and weathered various phases of life and musical outfits, Zahl, Pepino, Palmer, Johnston and Silverston have a unique connection that plays out in this project with depth and assuredness. The writing sits somewhere between the domestic observation of Suzanne Vega and the powerful, elemental other-worldliness of Bjorkork.

Martha HillNewcastle based Martha Hill writes hard-hitting alt-pop with a social conscience. Emerging musician Martha Hill grew up on a remote peninsular in Scotland. She was just 17 when she left her home travel Europe as a street musician. A talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, she settled in the North East and began to pen a series of pop songs that would transcend the streets, drawing on the influence of left-field artists such as Little Dragon and Sylvan Esso.
Not shy of hard work, Martha Hill has played multiple DIY tours to a growing fan-base across the UK and Europe, including supporting artists such as Mahalia, Maximo Park and Let’s Eat Grandma at venues like Borderline and The Sage.
Her self-released debut singles “Spiders” and “Wallflower” were championed by The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Radio 6 Music & Spotify Playlist amongst others. With her first two releases tackling issues such as mental health and social conformity, Hill is already getting a name for writing hard-hitting alt-pop with a social conscience.George Boomsma is a progressive folk musician from Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

George BoomsmaGeorge has the skill of making complex and clever songwriting sound blissfully simple, making every line feel like a fresh utterance from the ether, captivating the audience as they wait for the next sumptuous note. He has played alongside artists and bands such as Neill Maccoll, Kathryn Williams, The Travelling Band, Skinny Lister, Emma Langford and Martha Tilston. He has been played on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and performed at Latitude Festival 2016 on the BBC Introducing stage.

‘Heartfelt writing, heart-stopping vocals and a perfectly poised performance’. - Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6 Music
