Cookie Tongue (Brooklyn NYC) is a folky-noise-raw-art band, led by Omer Gal (from Israel aka Mother Tongue) was conceived in 2011 San Francisco, to bring group of independent interdisciplinary artists together to explore this imaginary landscape of otherness. Recently signed to Eh? Records. Beyond the whimsy of this phantasmagorical palette, emerges a darker force. Melodies, lyrics and soundscapes are woven together to create a mystical, bewitching constellation, inviting listeners to suspend their immediate reality and step into a world just beyond. These are incantatory songs, accompanied by puppetry, Butoh dance, poetry, costume and animation. Creating a theatrical tableaux and sonic realm of fantasy, a playful retreat of our inner child adventures, and often darker places inside the cycles of shadow and light. In all versions, the artists confront subconscious drives, where instincts reign primal, a place to execute the artistic catharsis and a collective cleansing of our souls.

Wearing their balaclava, susan is an 18 year old singer songwriter from Derbyshire. Focusing upon the strange and dark side of culture. Susan aims to find new ways to exploit these overpowering feelings of growing up different in a small village. Their melancholic woe of youth and surreal daydreaming into otherness devours us, softly into another world.

Chester Kirkin’s otherness is susan, exploring their genderfluid selves, the music layering becomes a living in hope, Trans-dystopian electronica. They playfully cheeky yet humbly sweet, as they approach the audiences to gather closer, huddle up as we are invited into their private world. Welcoming us into a beautifully cacophony sound art journey, we are drawn into their hauntingly poetic layering of who we long to become inside the kaleidoscopic dissonant noises and abstract vocal melodies, atmospherically reverbing against our own fleshy capsules. Sinister loops encapsulating the poetic fearful decent one may have as they peer out of the closet, into the wide world of possibilities during self-discovery assembling an identity. Then susan smiles and it’s all ok, we choose.
