The Macbeth in Hoxton is a London intimate music
venue that is being threatened with closure by the money thirsty local council and property developers. With the help of artists we can stand up to these people and keep the London music scene alive.
Over the years the venue has hosted a number of fantastic local acts as well as some huge international artists. Including : Florence and the Machine, Gallows, Annie Mac, Pete Doherty, Gang Of Four, Roots Manuva,Fucked Up, IS TROPICAL, Dan le Sac and Scrubious PiP, The XX, Evan Dando, The Cribs, James Blake, Fake Blood, Johnny Marr, and Franz Ferdinand.
The venue is owned and run by musicians, we understand the difficulties bands face in this current climate and we create a welcoming atmosphere where they can feel at home.
There has been a planning application to build a block of private flats at the back and to the side of The Macbeth. If this building goes ahead and the new residents complain about noise from our venue, we could lose our licence and be forced to close.
For the sake of 9 residential units, The Macbeth, along with the livelyhoods of all our staff, promoters and other local businesses will be under threat.
So Cherry Cola Club is putting a string of shows together to raise awareness for this great cause.
