Make something unique for your child at our UPCYCLING WORKSHOP at The Proud Archivist in Haggerston.
Local childrenswear designer Nadien Klages will teach you how to create a new pair of children's trousers out of your old favourite shirt which will carry its very own special story.
Take some time out from a busy schedule, bring a friend and get involved with some good old fashion sewing. Coffee and tea provided. Simply bring along one or two old cotton shirts that you feel deserve a a second career in children’s wear. We’ll then find the right pattern, cut and sew your chosen design and finish the new piece by adding pockets, buttons and cork patches.
Two different patterns will be provided, one for a pair of trousers and one for a skirt. We’ll be able to create pieces for kids aged from about 3 months to 4 years – although the largest size you’ll be able to make will of course depend on the shirt you start off with!
No prior sewing experience is necessary for this upcycling workshop,as we’ll go through the whole process will be taken together step by step. Sewing machines, cork fabric for patches and haberdashery will be provided on the day.
Feel free to pop over to Nadien's website to check out some more examples of the upcycled trousers and skirts we’ll be making.
