Within months of first picking up a microphone Blackburn's Tez Ilyas found himself in the finals of no less than eight comedy competitions, within a few years he won the BBC New Comedy Award and 2017 will see him embark on his first national tour!
Within three years he had written his first hour long show – TEZ Talks. Based on the popular TED Talks the show dispelled myths about Islam in general but particularly about British Muslims. Despite the somewhat sombre subject matter Ilyas worked his comedic magic and the show stormed the Edinburgh Fringe, sold out an extended run at a prestigious London theatre and was turned into a popular series by Radio 4!
Tez has now made numerous TV appearances in addition to creating and performing in comedy shorts for both the BBC and Sky. 2018 sees Tez take his second UK tour on the road.
“Blackburn-born Ilyas has a slickness more reminiscent of US comics, and the gags to back it up, though his most prized asset could yet be his bold, subversive streak” The Guardian
“Smart, subversive comedy with pin-sharp observations.” The Herald

We're delighted we've managed to book him just before he embarks on his UK tour. Brighton's Stephen Granthas long been a firm favourite with audiences and critics alike ( “Brilliant” The Scotsman “Hysterically funny from start to finish” Sunday Express“Genius” ★★★★★ The List ) and as soon as we heard he was in town we heftily bribed him to stay one extra night!
Your compere for the evening, Justin Moorhouse. This highly regarded comedian has comedy taken several comedy shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and toured the UK. In February 2015 Justin performed to over 200 000 people in a 15 night stage version of Channel 4’s Phoenix Nights. The critically acclaimed show at the Manchester Arena raised £5 million for Comic Relief. A natural affability endears Justin to any audience and an arsenal of tightly written material firmly hedges the bet.
“Moorhouse charms the pants off the crowd” Sunday Times
