Sean Morley - Scriptless Standup - A Comedy Workshop

“A lot of comedy instruction places most emphasis on methodical writing and tight rehearsed performance. In many ways comedy has picked up the trappings of theatre, including a big fourth wall, placing a great deal of distance between audience the performer.

I personally wanna let the focus swing the other way - interact with the audience, let performances be shaped and changed by what happens and focus on the potential to create a dynamic dialogue with a bunch of strangers in a room.

Scriptless Standup is a workshop for devised and improvised comedy performance run by Sean Morley as part of his residency at Bank St. Arts.

Scriptless Standup will teach the skills needed to abandon your ideas in the moment and go what what’s funny, interesting or dramatic to create a dynamic relationship between the performer and audience.

Itinerary

Sean Morley was booked to perform in a pub full of racists watching Sky Sports. Instead of doing his set and being either ignored/jeered he began shouting at the top of his lungs and stealing cutlery. It was the greatest creative decision of his life. Now his self confidence is boundless and he wants to create an army in his image. “
