Creative Matters: How creatives, institutions and businesses are collaborating to anticipate, shape and stimulate future economies.
A 4 day curated programme of Talks, Workshops, Master classes, Round table discussions, Installations, Exhibitions and Networking Events taking place in and around OXO Tower Wharf during the London Design Festival.
Creativity matters now more than ever, for the planet, for its peoples, for cities, for businesses and for the young. What was once seen as a ‘side-show’ is now recognised as essential.
But what does that really mean?
Working creatively is critical for everyone in an uncertain future where no one knows even what jobs we’ll all be doing, or how we will manage our resources, or even where or how we will be living.
Creative Matters is an investigation into this emerging Sector and an invitation to collaborate, network, research and create a dialogue. We hold out a hand to you to join us in this endevour, to bring your resources, your ideas, your teams and your talents to anticipate, shape and direct a possible future where creativity is the key driver. Creative Matters.
These days are an opportunity to present, exchange knowledge, experience, and of course to connect.

Saturday Highlights Include
'Photography Matters' with Yeshen Venema
Live photography workshop from Yeshen Venema. An invitation to learn about product and object photography, bring along your work, whether it is furniture ,textiles lighting, ceramics or jewellery. Saturday 17 *The workshop takes place on the second floor and through several doorways, so if you are bringing furniture or any over sized objects along please check with the organisers first.
A ten minute, one-to-one experience, Human Imagination Task Force explores the implications of prolonged technological immersion and potential psychological reactions to blurred realities. Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th. Numerous sessions through the day.
'Round Table on Internships' - Confessions of a Design Geek
Following a healthy debate about the benefits and pitfalls of internships in the design industry, the aim will be to reach a Manifesto for Design Internships, which both interns and employers will be able to sign up to, and which will become a condition of advertising or applying for internships on the Design Geek Jobs Board. Hosted by Design Geek founding editor Katie Treggiden, the panel will include award-winning designer Ella Doran, interior designers the 2 Lovely Gays, and editor of Intern magazine Alec Dudson.
'Considering Colour - Not Another Pink Razor' - Justine Fox
Colour tells a story. It's an incredible opportunity to start a meaningful relationship between product or environment and user. Over 30 minutes Justine Fox, Material Colour will explore some of the variants that go into making a connection through colour. During this interactive session, she'll explain how colour can add real value to brand, product and architecture through a combination of colour psychology and trend. After the presentation Justine will be available for a 30 minute open Q&A. Please bring along any of your work that you've got colour questions about.
At Creative Matters ARTS THREAD will be offering one-to-one speed portfolio reviews for recent creative graduates and students.
Portfolio reviews with be conducted by industry experts from a wide range of specialisms. Please bring along a paper portfolio or your portfolio on an iPad or laptop NB there is no wifi in the building so please make sure your portfolio is accessible!
