Aug 12 2016 19:00 - Aug 14 2016 16:30

The Bridge Inn, Michaelchurch Escley, HR20JW Herefordshire

Very limited tickets remain for the launch of Campfire Convention - a new social network and event, devised by Big Chill founder Pete Lawrence, taking place over the weekend of August 12-14.

The launch of the website will take place in late summer 2016 alongside a new style of camping weekend, built around the inspiration of campfire, storytelling, networking and sharing knowledge in beautiful rural or coastal locations for 500 max people taking place between late May and mid September. Campfire aims to put on a series of events, inspired and co-ordinated by its members, ranging from one night debates through to weekend jamborees.

Campfire Convention 001.UK takes place in the Golden Valley on the English side of The Black Mountains (just a few miles from the original and inspirational first Big Chill Gala event which created history 21 years ago) and utilises a rural pub setting, surrounded by a stream and open fields leading to the Cat's Back and the foothills leading to Offa's Dyke.

Come and experience and contribute to a lively mix of talks, panels, thinkshops and discussions, with a Saturday evening knees up with live music and DJs. The pub will be open throughout the weekend, serving a wide range of locally produced food, along with beers, ciders as well as the usual range of wines, spirits and softs. Arrival on the camp ground will be permitted from midday Friday, with the main events taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Our music line-up features English roots pioneers Edward II - appearing with Manchurian broadside balladress Jennifer Reid, guitar wizard Adrian Legg, Anna and Elizabeth on tour from the US and folk whirlwind duo Will Pound and Eddy Jay.

Brian Eno and Scilla Elworthy will be our keynote speakers and we're also pleased to welcome the legend that is Greg Wilson to our first Saturday night DJ slot as well an appearance on a Sunday panel on protest and counterculture.

The web community aims, like a traditional campfire gathering, to encourage members to tell their story, celebrate song, discuss issues of the day, explore new possibilities, start a movement, showcase work and ideas, formulate campaign ideas, chase dreams or find out what’s going on in the world. Or just chill.

Those gathering around the Campfire will be empowered to contribute, enthuse and energise the wider community to help make the sparks ignite and to join together in creating a ground-breaking new style of event which is designed to evolve organically into multi-faceted weekends staged and curated by the community itself.

Holding website is at and we have additional information at with more on our ideas and directions as well as the artists confirmed for the event.
