Basement Tapes Presents: Vels Trio / Lunch Money / Cameron Dawson

Nov 28 2016 19:45 - Nov 29 2016 03:00

Paper Dress Vintage, 352 Mare St, E8 1HR London

We're back at Paper Dress Vintage for another installment of our monthly residency with grooves to make you move, this time as part of Independent Venue Week

As usual Basement Tapes (Sam Ra & Howlin' Walsh) and Flying Mojito Bros DJs (Jack Sellen and Ben Chetwood) will be spinning some fine FUNK, SOUL, BLUES, MOTOWN, PSYCH, GARAGE, AFROBEAT, DISCO and much more throughout the night until 3am!

Plus live sets from:

Three young experimental jazz musicians born out of collective obsession, emotion and improvisation to sculpt contagiously frenetic compositions.

Channelling ingrained deep grooves, progressive soundscapes and contemporary hip hop productions - Vels Trio synthesise their mutual loves to challenge the psyche of not only the seasoned Jazz lover, but hyperactively engaging the ever-growing ‘generation now’ of curious, broadminded and savvy music lovers.

"...dreamy space-jam, mixing up fragments of fusiony riffs with big washes of electronic sound to dramatic and very contemporary effect that borrows from jazz, rock, hip hop and funk without sounding like any of the above."
- Jazzwise Magazine

A Lunch Money live show is a sensory experience, typically featuring psychedelic jazz, off-kilter hooks and rhythms, floating synths, horns and head knodding syncopated drum beats. Prepare to be amazed.
Lunch are fresh off the back of releasing their debut single via None More Records. Check it out here:
