Description
Ever wondered what goes on inside the minds of London's curators? Meet other creatives in a friendly, social atmosphere as we host an evening of conversation, networking and drinks!
For our next Meetup, the lovely folk at Cass Art will be welcoming us into their beautiful flagship store in Islington.
Joining our guest panel, we're excited to present Sally Shaw (Director at Firstsite Gallery) and Tina Ziegler (Curator/Director at Moniker Art Fair and Founder/Director at The Art Conference). We’ll take a closer look at the challenges faced by curators so artists can better understand the best ways to stand out - what makes curators tick when seeking new creative talent?
Sally Shaw has been Director at Firstsite since April 2016. She was previously Head of Programme at Modern Art Oxford, Deputy Head of Culture for the Mayor of London and Senior Curator for London Underground. While working for the Mayor of London she led the Fourth Plinth programme in Trafalgar Square and worked on contemporary art commissions for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sally has a specialist background in commissioning, public art and has an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from Goldsmiths College of Art and Design.
Recently appointed Director of Moniker Art Fair, Tina Ziegler has curated 70+ art exhibitions with over 300 artists across Europe and has built a reputation as a curator and fair director representing the most renowned international proponents of the Pop Surrealist and Urban Contemporary art movement. In 2010, she designed and published Hunt and Gather Art, an art book featuring 45 international artists. Fascinated by the crossover of art, emerging technology and urban culture, Tina founded The Art Conference in 2016 to facilitate a platform for discussion within the contemporary and urban art worlds.
We encourage interaction between all attendees so it’s a great opportunity to meet fellow artists from a variety of disciplines.
Some free drinks will be available and we have a £50 Cass Art voucher to give away on the night too!*
