Description
Wye Float is a new kind of adventure, which is hoping to attract people from all over Herefordshire to visit the River Wye in Hereford. The idea originated from a festival in Finland called the Kaljakellinta also known as "Beer Float", which has been an annual event since 1997 and this year attracted over 5,000 participants to the capital of Finland, Helsinki.
Wye Float requires participants to float down a set and controlled route of the River in various kinds of inflatables, dinghies, swimming pools, or self-built rafts. This event is a non-profitable organised event and will only be collecting donations on the day to help raise money for the two local chosen charities. Money will be collected in buckets and a small fee will be charged for using facilities to access the water. The event has a mixed team with various kinds of trades, skills and abilities to ensure this day is successful and safe.
Routes, timings and dates for the event will be realsed closer to the event date. A contingency plan will also be in place depending on weather, river levels and crowd control.
After the event an organised after party shall take place in a local bar or night club, to celebrate the fantastic day out on the river. However, this will only be available for adults over the age of 18 with correct identification.
