Wrappers! The subliminal language of chocolate

With a BYO menu so you can taste along

7.30pm to 8.30pm (GMT)

Why not join with a friend? 20% discount when you book two regular tickets at the same time.

Learn how to become an expert ‘chocolate wrapper whisperer’ and revisit some childhood favourites as you taste along with this deliciously indulgent session.

You’re invited to take a closer at iconic chocolate products as Sarah unwraps the stories of the cultural history preserved in the packaging. Experience a Proustian rush of nostalgia if you see a product from your childhood while you explore how the language on wrappers past and present evokes the indulgent experience of eating chocolate.

BYO menu

When you book you’ll receive a list of easy-to-source items to purchase in advance that will stimulate your taste buds and bring the journey to life through all your senses.

Suitable for all, no experience needed and you can join this virtual session from anywhere in the world.

CAMERA ON! You're encouraged to have your camera on because this is a live, interactive and social Zoom session. My sessions are created to feel like we're all in the same room together. However, if you feel uncomfortable having your camera on or have internet issues you're still very welcome to join the session.

“A really enjoyable evening and a trip down memory lane!” Jackie Curtis

“They came in search of paradise and found it...at a TypeTasting session!” Melissa Scott

Hello, I'm Sarah the host for this session. I'm the author of a number of books including 'Why Fonts Matter' and 'How to Draw Type and Influence People'. I'm a TEDx speaker, a regular guest on BBC Radio 4 and I sometimes appear on TV on shows like Channel 4's Sunday Brunch.

I make typography exciting for everybody, not just experts. Have you ever wondered whether you judge a shop or pub by its sign? Or why you judge a bottle by its label? Over the last seven years, I've welcomed thousands of people to my events and workshops. Now I'm excited that I can bring these experiences directly to you wherever you are in the world.

Recent Zoom guests have said “The event is genius”“you are such an amazing storyteller!” and “That was fun. Whoever woulda’ thought that I could be eating granola in Portland Oregon while visiting London?”

FAQ

  • I have not received my ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

  • I wish to cancel my ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

  • I have registered on the waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.

  • What is refund protection and why would I need it?

Refund Protection provides you with the assurance that if unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances interfere with your ability to attend an event you can claim a refund. For more information on this, read here.
