Description
Join us for this very special workshop with visiting woodswoman & artist
Nadine Fox of Green Fox Wildcrafts. Learn the amazing versatility of bark and how to process, weave and create your own crafts.
Bark is a fantastic material that can be harvested from the tree in the spring and summertime, then be processed and made into beautiful, functional objects.
On this course we will look at a selection of different barks from Nadine's collection and she will show you items that can be made from them.
You will then create your own unique piece of woven basketry to take home.
About Nadine in her own words - Working with the land by hand
I feel a deep connection to the land and my work because I make my crafts from the ground up, either growing, coppicing or foraging my own materials, scraping, splitting and processing them by hand with axes and knives and then shaping and decorating them into lovingly crafted functional items.
I love working with the seasons, undertaking coppice and conservation work in the Winter, harvesting bark and planting in the Spring, sharing and teaching in the Summer and harvesting dye and herbal materials and making in the Autumn. I use materials that is sustainable, I can always tell you exactly where the tree that your bowl or bag came from!
The items I make are functional as well as beautiful, it is hugely satisfying to eat from a wooden bowl and spoon that you have made yourself whilst sat on a chair that you have made entirely by hand.
I run craft courses, including bark weaving, spoon and bowl carving, and natural paint and ink courses. I also work freelance teaching greenwoodwork, demonstrate at shows all over the country and sell my crafts online and at shows.
I work from my woodland workshop and anywhere else where I can carry a log and my tools!
