    The ICE Graduates and Students Bristol & Bath committee and the CIBSE South West committee invite you to a panel debate focusing on the use of technology within engineering. To celebrate ICE200 we will be looking at what engineering will look like in 200 years’ time and how technology is changing the role of engineers.

    Robert Westcott Director - Civic Engineers

    Robert Westcott is a Director at Civic engineers, a structural and civil engineering consultancy, after 14 years at Alan Baxter associates. Civic Engineers highlights the importance of open minded creativity and strongly advocates the practice of sketching, not only to explore engineering design but as a form of communication. This is implemented in their civic in-house training programme. This is paired with their drive to adopt Building Information Modelling processes across their buildings and civil engineering projects.

    Luke Cooper Senior Analyst - Arup

    Luke Cooper is a spatial technology specialist which encompasses geographic information systems as well as wider digital environments at Arup. These have included mobile applications, augmented reality and 3D visualization. Arup's digital studio uses industry leading expertise to provide consultancy services, service design, prototyping and ground breaking solutions that utilize digital technology and data to improve performance, enhance sustainability and encourage collaboration, with the belief that this will ultimately result in more successful cities and healthier societies.

    Niall Kane Digital Engineering Manager - VINCI Construction

    Niall Kane is currently Head of digital Engineering at VINCI Constriction UK, one of the largest contracting companies in the world. VINCI employs around 185,000 people in 100 countries around the world. Their UK technology center combines world leading laboratory testing with expertise in sustainability and a complete understanding of structures. They drive to provide world leading expertise through optimal use of technology, and strength lies on the ability to do so whilst bringing together multidisciplinary teams

    James Norman Programme Director - University of Bristol

    James Norman is a Senior Tutor for the department of Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol with 12 years teaching experience. James teaches in the areas of creativity, design sustainability and architecture whilst supervising design and research projects. Prior to becoming a full time teacher James worked in the industry for 15 years working on a wide variety of projects including the structural design of the facade for the new Tate Modern perforated brickwork.
