    Description

From a place of myth and folklore to the site of a picturesque mill where local artists flocked to paint, Whittle Dene, Ovingham has a colourful history that we invite you to explore with us. At this event, a group of volunteers for Woodland Trust and Whittle Dene CIC will share research and findings gathered as part of a project to document the dene's history. We also invite you to bring along your own memories, photos or historical information about Whittle Dene. Perhaps you played in the abandoned mill as a child, or have family connections to someone who once lived in the mill. Maybe you have historic photos of the cabins, or information about when the cabins were built and why. We would love to record your stories on the day as well as share our own. You are also welcome to simply come along and meet members of Whittle Dene CIC as well as Woodland Trust volunteers, find out more about us and enjoy some complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.

The event is free, but please register so we know how many people to expect.

There will be a presentation delivered by volunteers at 1.45pm, followed by an open discussion and drop-in session for the rest of the afternoon. Feel free to stop by anytime between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, and leave at any point

Questions about the event? Email info@whittledenecic.co.uk

Covid policy: all volunteers and visitors are asked to take a lateral flow test within 24hours of the event. Chairs will be arranged for social distancing for the presentation, and for one-to-one chats with volunteers.
