This year Weymouth Carnival is proud to present an evening torchlight procession on Tuesday 16th August, inviting the public to light a torch in what will be a moving tribute to absent loved ones.
Brand new for 2016, the Torchlight Procession will begin at roughly 8PM on Weymouth seafront and travel along the beach.
Carnival Chairman, Ryan Hope, says, “We strongly recommend you pre-order torches, as spaces are very limited. We’re proud to be supporting the Weldmar Hospice Trust through this event with torches available at a cost of £5, £1 from each sale will be going to support our chosen charity”
Torches will only be sold to anyone over 16, anyone under 16 either purchasing torch or arriving to collect a pre ordered torch must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
WEYMOUTH CARNIVAL STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PRE-ORDER YOUR TORCH AS WE ANTICIPATE THIS BEING A VERY POPULAR ATTRACTION!
WEYMOUTH CARNIVAL AND EVENTS CLUB WANT TO ENSURE EVERYBODY HAS A GREAT TIME. TO ENSURE THIS PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:
- TORCHES WILL NOT BE PROVIDED TO ANYONE UNDER 16. UNDER 16'S WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO HOLD A TORCH ON THE NIGHT.
- ANYONE UNDER 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT, 1 ADULT TO 1 CHILD, THE CHILD IS THAT ADULTS RESPONSIBILITY. GLOW STICKS WILL BE AVAILABLE.
- ENSURE THE TORCH IS HELD AWAY FROM YOU, LONG HAIR IS TIED BACK AND NO LOOSE CLOTHING
- THE ROUTE IS ALONG THE BEACH, NO TORCHES TO BE CARRIED ALONG THE PROM
- AT THE END OF THE PARADE PLEASE EXTINGUISH YOUR TOURCH AS DIRECTED BY EVENT STAFF
- THROUGHOUT THE EVENT PLEASE FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS FROM EVENT STAFF
- ANYONE WHO IS DEAMED TO BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BY EVENT STAFF WILL NOT BE ALOWED TO TAKE PART IN THE PARADE AND THE COST OF THE TOURCH WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
- THERE WILL BE FIRST AIDERS AND SECURITY IN ATTENDANCE ALONG WITH WEYMOUTH CARNIVAL AND EVENTS CLUB STAFF. IF YOU NEED ANY ASSISTANCE PLEASE SPEAK TO THEM.
