Description
Drawing inspiration from John Berger's Ways of Seeing which reveals hidden messages ubiquitous in Western cultural aesthetic, be it advertising, design or other visual imagery, The New Craftsmen with Fox & Squirrel invite you on a walk that will highlight the ways of seeing from a craftsman's perspective.
Using the eyes of our craftsmen potter Billy Lloyd, typographer Kelvyn Smith and hand-weaver Catarina Riccabona as our compass through Mayfair we will be looking up, looking down, hunting for details and nuances that our makers build upon as a source of creativity.
Who knew a gutter could be a source of inspiration? This walk will reveal a craftsman's process as he or she seeks to create.
See Mayfair but not as you expect! Scrap book and pens provided by The New Craftsmen
Catering to a maximum of 12 guests, & beginning at The New Craftsmen's Mayfair shop, the cultural walking tour will place particular emphasis on the architecture past & present of the area. With an opportunity to view the 'Made of Mayfair' exhibition at The New Craftsmen first, guests will then set off at 12.30pm for a 2.5 hour exploration of the district, ending at the Church of St James', Piccadilly, with a visit to hand-weaver Catarina Riccabona who has taken up residence in the Church for London Craft Week.
Tickets £10, 12 places available, booking essential.
