Chosen for their genre defying approach and originality the second night of Violets brings together three artists working with voice and electronic music. Notably they all also work as visual artists which perhaps informs their refusal to fit into boxes and allows them the freedom of musical exploration. Expect a voyage.
Me Lost Me (I Lost My) is the solo electronic music project of artist/musician Jayne Dent. Using voice as her main instrument through a loop and effects with trad folk instruments such as the bodhran and concertina, she brings together the seemingly separate worlds of ambient/electronic/experimental sound and folk music. Her live set floats between original compositions and playful arrangements of traditional songs, with a good murder ballad or two thrown in.
Knight Knight is a musician, producer and visual artist. Her music is both danceable and tumultuous, drawing inspiration from multiple genres, from grime to techno to noise, and falling somewhere between Four Tet, Jamie XX and Grimes.
To quote Narc magazine Electronic musician and film composer Jennifer Walton is’Mysterious, dark and bloody wonderful.’
