You’ll be able to impress friends and family with simple yet sophisticated cakes, tarts and other vegan goodies that’ll prove you can have your cake and eat it too...."     The class will include:

    • Essentials of vegan baking and how the main substitutes work 
    • Making a delicious showstopper no-bake chocolate tart with seasonal fruit
    • Learn how to increase the nutritional profile of your baked goods with a variety of nutrients
    • Techniques to make scrumptious vegan cakes such as the perfect vegan banana bread 
    • Protein-rich bites and bars to up your energy levels during the day 
    • A delicious plant-based lunch featuring a seasonal galette and take-home recipe pack

    Melissa Saint Hill is a registered Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and Clinical Research Scientist, with interests in type 2 diabetes, cardiometabolic health and the gut microbiome. Having a natural creative flair, as well as an academic background, Melissa is passionate about teaching and inspiring people to cook, bake and eat healthily, without compromising on taste. Melissa has a keen interest in presenting food to ensure it looks as good as it tastes and smells, which has led to food styling and photography becoming solid passions.


    All funds raised from our masterclasses are used to fund our vital free and pay-by-donation program of classes to marginalised and low income community groups. By attending a Made In Hackney masterclass you get a great day of learning AND you’re providing our charity with essential funds for us to continue our work with vulnerable community groups. 


    Fee*: £84 (£66 Concession**) inclusive of VAT, includes a delicious organic plant based lunch. 
    * This fee is used to fund our programme of free courses to vulnerable and low-income community groups

    ** Concessionary rate available for students, pensioners, unemployed and low waged

    Refunds: we require a minimum of 7 days' notice for any cancellations or transfers once you have booked onto a class.

    Made In Hackney uses cereals containing gluten namely: wheat (spelt and khorasan wheat), rye, barley, oats; peanuts; all other nuts; sesame; all other seeds; soybeans; celery and celeriac; mustard; sulphur dioxide/sulphites; lupin; tomatoes and other allergens in it's classes. Our food is freshly prepared in our busy cookery school kitchen that handles allergens, so we cannot guarantee that our food and drinks are allergen-free. Even in classes where these ingredients are not being used, they will be on site in our store rooms and our equipment will have previously come into contact with them. Participants attend at their own risk.

All proceeds help fund our community meal service which has become a critical food support service delivering 70,000 free nutritious, tasty meals per year to households struggling to access food, and is needed now more than ever by our community.
