Part of Scalarama's month-long celebration of cinema, She's A Rebel presents a screening of VAGABOND (SANS TOIT NI LOI), Agnès Varda's stark portrayal of a defiant teenage drifter Mona (Sandrine Bonnaire). Found perished from the cold at the beginning of the film, Mona's story is stitched together through flashbacks told by those she encountered before her death (played by a largely nonprofessional cast). Winner of the Golden Lion at the 1985 Venice Film Festival, VAGABOND is a poetic, compassionate look at female homelessness, and a woman's refusal of conventional life and femininity.
