This is a weekend long unconference designed for experienced riggers and rope bottoms to share skills, network and socialise.
The UK has a number of vibrant rope scenes, and this event came out of a desire to build greater connections between local groups, and help build a wider rope community across the UK. We are hoping to get attendees coming from London, Oxford, Reading, Southampton, Northampton, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Edinburgh and beyond.
We will be providing an opportunity for people who've been involved in their local rope communities to branch out and to exchange skills, knowledge and experience with a wider pool of people. For some this will be an opportunity to push their rope to the next level, and for others it will be a chance to pick up tips and tricks. There is always something more to learn, and everyone has unique perspective they can contribute.
Each day there will be a number of predetermined workshops, demos and discussions to provide structure to the event, but there will be plenty of opportunities for people to suggest topics during the event.
UKREx will begin on Friday evening with a social event and rope jam. On Saturday evening there will be another rope jam, as well as an opportunity few people to share short performance ideas. There will also be a facilities for photography to occur.
This event is for experienced riggers and rope bottoms/models, and is not suitable for beginners or improvers. We assume that riggers who attend can, as a minimum, confidently tie a single column, chest harness and hip harness of their choice, and have good rope handling skills. We assume that rope bottoms/models who attend have experience of being in rope for extended periods, have good body awareness and good communication skills.
