Description
Explore how typography can be used to give angst and rebellion a voice, and how you can use fonts to ensure that YOUR message is heard. You will learn from recent history how typefaces both articulate and document change, and what an important role they have played. From the anti-establishment angst of Punk, the placards of the miners' strikes of the 1980s, the wine industry's seismic shift through language and design, to the successful presidential campaigns in the USA. Learn how to select a font in 4 easy steps, then roll up your sleeves for a hands-on creative session away from the computer. No previous experience necessary.
6.30: Relax and chat over a glass of wine.
7–8pm: Talk by Sarah Hyndman.
8–9.30: Hands-on creative session exploring rebellious type and lettering.
9.30: Raffle, win a signed copy of Why Fonts Matter and other prizes.
The workshop takes place in the Type Tasting studio on the edge of Dalston, London. It accommodates up to 15 people. Included in the workshop are two glasses of wine, materials and raffle prizes.
