TROPICAL BEATS PARTY
2 For The Road Events proudly present a night showcasing the best of the new talents of the 'global club movement' at the cutting-edge Village Underground, as part of the Convergence Festival.
BATIDA (Soundway Records)
Batida is the brainchild of Angolan/Portuguese Pedro Coquenão. As a distinctly modern and vibrant project with its feet firmly rooted in the past, it combines samples from old 1970s Angolan tracks with modern electronic dance music. Music is the starting point but through dance, poetry, graphics, photography, radio and video, Batida expands, taking in politics and social commentary but always bringing it back to the party.
'Slippery guitars of classic African dance-band music and a touch of pumping super-modern bass' - The Telegraph
'This may well be a game-changing 21st century electronic African dance album' – Songlines
'A sound that is thoroughly modern, but which tastefully references what came before' - BBC
SKIP&DIE (Crammed Discs)
After setting stages on fire around the planet during their successful two-year "Riots In The Jungle" tour, pan-tropical future bass band SKIP&DIE are back with an exhilarating new album, entitled "Cosmic Serpents" - luring their audiences into a landscape somewhere between paradise, the apocalypse and beyond. Don't miss their super exciting live set!
'Breaking down cultural barriers by mixing together beats from across the globe. Skip & Die are ready for take off' – DJ Mag
ALO WALA (Enchufada)
Alo Wala features vocalist Shivani Ahlowalia and Danish tropical bass pioneers Copia Doble Systema. Live, Alo Wala deliver an explosive dancefloor experience with a bass driven sound rooted in hip hop and beat music mixed with traditional Indian music, South-American rhythms and a range of global sounds and influences. One of the bands to watch in 2015!
