Yes family, we hope you're bless. Exciting news! On Sunday 19 May, Touching Bass is starting an intimate, live music series. For our first date we have a trio of favourites — Lex Amor, Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Project Karnak — sharing space at Unit 31's warm and homely spot in Limehouse.

REGINALD OMAS MAMODE IV
In celebration of his much anticipated third album Where We Going?, we're bringing Reginald Omas Mamode IV's kaleidoscopic patchwork of hip-hop and Afro-tinged groove back to London. Described as "equal parts D'Angelo to J Dilla", Mamode's two albums (2016's self-titled debut and 2017's Children of Nu) are firm favourites within the TB family.

His third project was partly recorded on a journey to the Mascarene Islands in search of his family roots, which branch from ancient Mauritian Maroons through Swahili and Malagasy to sugarcane plantation Creole slave decent.

LEX AMOR
Already known to a lot of the Touching Bass community as a wordsmith who we believe has all the right energy to go stratospheric. The calm yet powerful cadence of her delivery is already cultivating a cult following, whether that's as part of the SXWKS collective, on her monthly Reprezent show or via our own Afro Chronicles Vol. 1 mixtape, which introduced the world to "Praises". This is an unmissable opportunity to see her playing live with the band we're about to introduce.

PROJECT KARNAK
T
he brainchild of keyboardist Dominic Canning and Sam Ouissellat. Like Lex, the duo was also a must-inclusion for our 2017 Afro Chronicles Vol. 1 mixtape, which featured "Equinox" from their now released debut EP. Their debut EP of the same name — which arrived in May 2018 via None More Records — melded influences of drum and bass, jazz, funk and hours spent mashing through video games into a lightning beam of dynamic sonics.

Since then, they've completed the formidable task of nailing a tribute to Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters to a sold out Jazz Cafe crowd. While Dom is also a part of the Steam Down family that has garnered worldwide attention for its inclusive, weekly jams alongside some of the best musicians both near and far. This'll be a rare opportunity to catch them before Steam Down embark on a serious list of summer festival madness.
