En 1987 Tonton David decouvre Londres et l' effervescence de la scène dancehall, puis de ses nuits dans les sound systems en compagnie de Nuttea, Tonton David devient un des pionniers du raggamuffin français.
Le 2 décembre 91, paraît "Le blues de la racaille". Réalisé à Londres, ce premier album reggae et raggamuffin aborde de nombreux autres styles musicaux tels que la soul, legro kâ antillais ou la rumba zaïroise. En un album, Tonton David devient une personnalité auprès de la jeunesse grâce à ses hymnes ragga décontractés et à des textes abordant les sujets sensibles tels que le chômage, le racisme ou encore le mal de vivre.
Etrangement Tonton David n'a jamais fait de concert a Londres, et le 22 Aout 2015 sera donc son premier show outre manche.
