Tomislav English returns to Tripspace to lead a 4 day exploration into the principles behind his Ferus Animi // Terra Nova research. The workshop will seek to examine the principles behind the movement techniques we have come to recognise, through the lens of evolutionary physiology and environmental adaptation, looking to better understand our mechanics and the physical laws which govern our motion, in search of a richer range of possibilities in our movement and performance practice.

Tomislav English is a co-founder of movement research collective Ferus Animi // Terra Nova, a group of cross disciplinary artists and scientists researching in the field of human evolutionary physiology and environmental adaptation, through both a scientific and artistic lens. Tomislav's personal practice is informed by ongoing movement research under the teachings of Grand Master Tae Yong Lee (Teuk Gong Moo Sool-8th Dan, Tae Kwon Do-8th Dan, Hap Ki Do-8th Dan, Kick Boxing-7th Dan, Gum Do-8th Dan), Ido Portal, David Zambrano, Rootlessroot, and Bruno Caverna amongst others, in addition to academic research at Royal Holloway, University of London and the University of Oxford (Department of Psychiatry). Artistically Tomislav is currently working extensively with director Wim Vandekeybus, and is a member of his company Ultima Vez in Brussels. Previously he has worked with artists including Punchdrunk/National Theatre London, Luca Silvestrini's Protein Dance, English National Ballet, A?E, Joe Wright/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and The Penguin Cafe. Tomislav is a graduate (1st Class BA (Hons)) of London Contemporary Dance School and The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
