    Description

    Memory is one of the most important brain systems as they help shape how we learn, our intelligence, and who we are. These classes are for industry professionals who would like to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of cognitive neuroscience to make products and designs that are smarter and more human centric.

    Curiosity is said to be the "lust of the mind", without it we would not have the impetus to engage with "new". However, without memory we would not remember or recall the "new", in this workshop we will explore this interesting and highly complex relationship.

    This class is 2 of 3 classes we are doing on memory, the next one will be Memory + Intelligence

    The talk will be led by cognitive neuroscientist Araceli Camargo.

    // Defining curiosity

    // The relationship between curiosity and memory and how it helps us evolve new ideas

    // Discussion

    THE ROLE OF NEUROSCIENCE
    Neuroscience is still quite a young science, however it has already shed significant understanding on how the brain and central nervous system help construct the world around us.

    Furthermore, technology is now working in symbiosis with science to give us a deeper, clearer, and more detailed vision of ourselves. Through these workshops we can use scientific studies to become more aware of how the brain works.

    OUR RESEARCH AND ETHICS
    The science is thoroughly researched and prepared for commercial application. We have worked with many clients that are leading in human centric products, technologies, and services.

    The purpose is to gain understanding of how people perceive and interact with the world around them. We aim to stay honest to the science whilst making it accessible and applicable to industry. By honest, we mean that we research a wide range of studies and data, which at times show different findings in order to bring you a diverse set of theories. It also means that we will not take a reductionist approach nor will we claim that neuroscience is an "answer" or deterministic.

    We believe that good science stays within questioning and exploration rather than veering towards determinism and certainty. Before every workshop we explain the ethics behind the work we do and who we work with.

    THECUBE: is a research lab focusing on perception, specifically how people attain, interact, and interpret the world around them. As advocates of knowledge transfer and mobility we provide workspace to those likeminded working in science, technology and design.
