Participatory Performance/Workshops for Families

Under 5s 12–1.30pm and age 5+ 2.30–4pm


A whale climbed a mountain, a statue spoke and people walked on water. Journey between land and sea to where stories are born

With Sharon Jacksties and Pete Mona. 'This well-known and much-loved storytelling and music partnership blend story and music into crafted shows.'

These participatory performances/workshops are for family audiences and suitable for all ages however there will be two sessions; one aimed at under-5s and their parents and one aimed at children 5+ and their parents. Both sessions will be suitable for all ages to hear, but each will be targeted at a different level.

The cafe will be available to use as a quiet space throughout the event but each child must be under the supervision of a parent all times.

Sharon and Peter perform together as Music Box in shows for all ages ranging from early years to adults. To learn more of what they do please see their website.

Mr Rook's Speak Easy is a storytelling venue for adults in the heart of Frome, Somerset. It aims to offer the best professional performers from around the country with a monthly programme from September to May. This is the pilot event for our new strand Rooklings, which we hope will become a regular session for young children, bringing professional storytellers who specialize in early-years storytelling to the town.

This event is being is part of Summerlands Storytelling Festival 2016 which aims to promote storytelling and storytellers in the legendary summer lands of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Please see the Summerlands Storytelling Festival for more information on other events in the area.

All ages are welcome but each session will be targeted to the age groups stated below
12–1.30pm under-5s with a break for juice and tea/coffee
2.30–4pm Ages 5+ with a break for juice and tea/coffee
This is a free event but please do book in advance as spaces are very limited and only a few will be available on the day, please include all adults and children over one year.
