The Vernon Spring + Blood Moon Project

Nov 28 2019 19:30 - 23:00

Servant Jazz Quarters, 10A Bradbury St, N16 8JN London

This show is the final part of a 3-gig residency at Servant Jazz Quarters for The Vernon Spring - a new solo project from Sam Beste. Throughout the residency Sam has been experimenting with material new and old in search of a sound that feels like home. This solo departure comes after many years of producing records with his band Hejira, soulstress Tawiah, string duo Fran & Flora and others, many of which are part of the Lima Limo collective he co-founded. Sam has also been in demand as a pianist for other artists including Amy Winehouse, Matthew Herbert, and most recently Leon Vynehall. This year he will be doing a series of shows at SJQ for The Vernon Spring, working the curatorial muscles he developed whilst running the club night TRAUM together with his Hejira bandmates. In conjunction with the residency Sam has been releasing a series of singles, beginning last month with debut 'Another', which has had early support from the likes of Zakia Sewell on NTS Radio.

Heloise Tunstall BehrensTanya Auclair, and Luisa Gerstein are all singers, musicians, composers, and producers based in London. They come together in Deep Throat Choir and The Quorum, all-female ensembles exploring the voice through polyphonic singing traditions and Deep Listening practices. Blood Moon Project is a new experimental project as a trio.
