    Description

Manchester’s finest alt. folk-rock superhumans The Travelling Band have won hearts and minds wherever they’ve found themselves, combining the strut of refried Southern country with the One Foot On The Monitor mayhem of the E-Street Band. With smatterings of McCartney (the beard years) and Crosby Stills & Nash million-part harmonies, TTB have become firm favourites for people with good ears and warm hearts.

Forged initially from of a recording project with producer Eric Ambel (Steve Earle/Ryan Adams) in Brooklyn back in 2007, and having since worked with Iestyn Polson (David Gray/Patti Smith) on 2014’s The Big Defreeze, TTB have spent the last year writing and recording at their recently established Pinhole Sound Studio in Manchester.

With their fourth album due out later this year, The Travelling Band are straight out of the traps in 2016 with a European tour supporting (and also backing) American singer-songwriter Lissie.

Main support comes from A Dyjecinski. A Dyjecinski is an enigma wrapped up in a ball of gently mysterious wool. He is originally from Canada; The Valley of Yessiree is his first album as a solo artist: A self-recorded autobiographical concept record on failure in the pursuit of loneliness and the ghosts that occupy his mind.

Opening this bill are Curse of Lono. Curse of Lono were formed in London in 2015 by singer Felix Bechtolsheimer following the breakup of British roots pioneers Hey Negrita. The five-piece have been busy recording their debut album with producer and Boxed In/Keithfrontman Oli Bayston. What started as a casual jam with a few friends quickly yielded a stunningly cinematic record that combines spaced-out, harmony-laden Americana with dark, driving indie-rock.
