    Description

The Thing is a bi-monthly party held in Hackney to fly the freak flag for cosmic disco addicts, psychedelic techno partisans and stone to the bone funk fanatics.

The night is the pulsating brain child of Horton Jupiter (Puwaba, Halleluwah), Natalie Sharp (The Lone Taxidermist) and John Doran (Hollywood 7, Outernational).

Friday April 10th sees the inaugural Thing party featuring Horton & Doran going head to head on the decks buzzing off each other's selection of phazed Cameroonian synth funk, ear boggling Syrian wedding rave, fake Zairean glam stompers, chrome-plated Balearic synth pop, Iraqi acid choubi, Lowland bath house bangers, rampantly indiscreet Afrobeat, not to mention the D.l.S.C.O, the funk and the Krauty grooves… Master of Ceremonies Sharp will be employing her Galifreyan toolbox of analog gew gaws and audio warping gizmos, to provide live remixing for a highly psychedelicized dancefloor.

The Thing crew are literally beside themselves after an accident in the quantum copying room and the amazing news that Sculpture are playing a full live audio visual set at their debut party. The duo are an "opto-musical agglomerate" that will distort time space and the senses with tape-loop manipulations and zoetrope visuals that will melt your face. For anyone who is unlucky enough to have never seen Sculpture before this is what Horton has to say: "A Sculpture show is like being hypnotised into an extremely ecstatic trance by whirlpool visuals and impossible polyrhythmic grooves, both with a multitude of spasmodic interruptions. It will set your hair alight."

And not only that but the trio still have a very special guest yet to be announced to take the dancing all the way into the early hours of the morning.

There will be prizes on the night for the best dressed guests but enlightenment via the heart and brow chakra will be granted to everyone in attendance.

    FAQ

    • I have not received my The Thing ticket via email. What should I do?

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your The Thing tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services. Alternatively, you can always find your The Thing tickets in your Billetto account that you can access in the browsers or the dedicated Billetto app. For more help with this, read here.

    • I wish to cancel my The Thing ticket and receive a refund. What should I do?

The approval of refunds is entirely at the event organiser’s discretion, and you should get in contact with the event organiser to discuss what options are available to you. To get in touch with the event organiser, simply reply to your order confirmation email or use the "Contact organiser" form on the organiser's profile. For more help with this, read here.

    • I have registered on the The Thing waiting list, what happens now?

If more tickets become available you will be notified (by email) amongst others who have joined the list. Purchasing is on a first-come first-serve basis. For more information, read here.

    • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the The Thing event online. For more information on this, read here.

    • What is refund protection and why would I need it?

Refund Protection provides you with the assurance that if unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances interfere with your ability to attend an event you can claim a refund. For more information on this, read here.
