Description

We're so pleased to be welcoming the Teacups to Dorking in October! The members of this acapella foursome are Rosie Calvert, Alex Cumming, Kate Locksley and Will Finn. They've been creating a storm across the UK festival circuit in the past few years, having initially met and started singing together at Newcastle University.

The Guardian has this to say about the Teacups:
'Unaccompanied harmony singing has always played a key role in the folk tradition, and the style is quite rightly back, with a vengeance...the Teacups show how old songs can be transformed by four voices and imaginative new arrangements. They have established a distinctive, fresh and impressively varied style...All (their songs are) treated with subtle and exquisite harmony vocals.****The Guardian

As we speak they are busy working on a new album due out later in 2019! Their debut album, 'One For The Pot' (2013) explores traditional and contemporary songs from all over the British Isles and beyond with a sensitive and lyrical approach to arrangement. Their second album, 'Of Labour & Love' (2015) contains new and original compositions as well as murder ballads, exotic shanties and traditional songs of love and loss. More about the group available at www.theteacups.co.uk.
