    The Scott Walker Songbook

"I'll starve to get something across, I mean that. If it doesn't work I'll give it all up" Scott Walker 1966

With the recent passing of the distinctive and avant-garde Scott Walker, HJC are proud to pay hommage to this controversial genius of works and contribution to the the industry, by hosting the very special Evening of Celebration at The Hampstead Jazz Club!

It’s a show not to be missed!!!

Scott Walker is one of popular music's most fascinating and elusive artists. A singer whose journey has taken him from being a 60s pop idol to one of the world’s most celebrated avant-garde composers.

Singer/comedian Andy Davies has been obsessed with him for years and wants to share this devotion with you. He has made it his calling to share the songs and story of the man they call ‘The Godlike Genius’ through the creation of a brand new show - The Scott Walker Songbook - a wonderful collection of songs performed with just voice and piano.

It’s the story of one of the greatest singers in popular music. A young man who came to England from the USA, became one of the biggest pop stars of the 60s with The Walker Brothers before walking away from it all to follow his own, unique path. It’s a story of adoration and self-loathing, beautiful ballads and unlistenable albums, success, failure and the redemption of madness.

Backed on piano by the fabulous Kirsty Newton (musician, songwriter & arranger), Andy Davies tells the story and sings the soundtrack. Featuring classic hits from The Walker Brothers and songs from Scott’s unique solo career, The Scott Walker Songbook is an intimate, touching and funny evening for both Scott Walker fans and newcomers alike. The show doesn’t just stick to the 60s classics but also features songs from Walker’s later works; music that has rarely, if ever, been performed live before. Featuring The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore, Plastic Palace People, Montague Terrace (In Blue), The Electrician and Farmer in the City.

"He reminds you of the darkness behind the romanticism" Sting

"Scott's been my idol since I was a kid" David Bowie
