The Big Band is Back! The sensational Brighton Jazz Mafia will be joining together with the dance aces from Swing Patrol for a night of swing dance and spectacular music.
Swing out to this fabulous all star big band, formed from the cream of the Brighton jazz music scene as they recreate the iconic sounds of 40s and 50s dance music taken into the 21st century by these great performers. Classic tracks from Count Basie and Duke Ellington plus new music taking this art form into the 21st century, always with an eye on the past.
The big band provides the quintessential swing music experience. Feel the power of the huge brass section, as well as carefully crafted intimate jazz sounds, and show-stopping solos from the superb musicians in the ensemble.
Learn and improve your own swing dance moves with a bluesy Lindy Hop class before the band gets going. This will give an introduction for newbies as well as advice and ideas for experienced dancers. The renowned Swing Patrol teachers will then lead the dancing once the band gets started with demos and helpful teaching advice, competitions and swinging DJ sounds. This is a fabulous opportunity to dance the evening away, or you can simply sit back and enjoy the show. With the band performing and live dance performances, it is sure to be an event to remember!
