The Pride of the Lionesses Book Launch
Join Goal Diggers FC, a non-profit club set up in London to make football more available and accessible to all women and non-binary people, and celebrate the launch of The Pride of Lionesses book by Carrie Dunn.
Following on from The Roar of the Lionesses, named one of The Guardian’s best sports books of 2016, The Pride of the Lionesses follows England's women’s team heading to France for the 2019 Women's World Cup endeavouring to improve on their third-place finish in Canada four years previously.
The Lionesses didn't have the easiest of preparations, with dramas and headlines emerging for all the wrong reasons. Back home, FA upheavals brought yet another restructure of competition in women's football, at professional and grassroots levels.
The Pride of the Lionesses offers a timely inside analysis of one of the UK's fastest-growing sports.
Goal Diggers FC is one of the grassroots teams the book focuses on, and there will be a book sale at the event with all profits of the sale going towards the club.
At this event, the author Carrie Dunn will be reading parts from her book, as well as taking part in a Q&A about her findings and the landscape of women’s football, as well as signing books that are for sale!
