The Norfolk Broads
The Norfolk Broads are a four-piece ensemble who enjoy singing low-pitched folk songs about love, despair and dastardly boyfriends. They bonded in the alto section of the Trad Academy Sea Shanty Choir, deciding to form a group during a long car ride to Cornwall in 2014. Since then, they have performed their spirited harmonies at festivals and venues in London and further afield. The Broads supply their repertoire of traditional stories with a very contemporary verve and energy, using old songs to fuel new takes on the lives of women both past and present. Their debut album, In the Valley of the Flowers, was released in 2017.
"Young female quartet the Norfolk Broads are strong storytellers.Their close harmonies brought a witty feminist take to a well-curated set of tales of impotence, greedy landlords, and the joys of a single life" - The Guardian.
Nick Hart
Nick Hart is a folk singer deeply rooted in the English tradition. Raised in a family of morris dancers, Nick played instrumental music for many years before discovering his passion for traditional song. Nick uses a minimal guitar accompaniment and his delivery always has a great emphasis on storytelling. His repertoire of songs, drawn largely from his native East Anglia, reflect his understanding of both the depth and breadth of material within the English tradition. 2017 saw the release of his first solo album, Nick Hart Sings Eight English Folk Songs and his second album will release on 1st May 2019.
"One of the most rewarding and accomplished albums we've heard this year." FRoots
“Uncluttered, great singing that reminds me of the very best English roots singers. This is the real deal.” Mike Harding
