NATYS '17: ROBERSON WINE TOP OF THE BILL
Comedy veteran, Arthur Smith, introduces the latest wave of new comedy talent.
14 acts have been booked, from over 100 auditionees, to appear on the seminal Top of the Bill Showcase, which, this year, is sponsored by UK’s finest wine merchant, Roberson Wines.

Now in its 30th year and a feature of the national live comedy scene NATYS (New Acts of The Year) has auditioned over 3,000 acts and has helped more than 300 acts to get started on the live comedy circuit. The NATYS have been selecting acts to appear at their annual Top of the Bill New Acts of the Year show, since the early eighties, from the Hackney Empire through to the Leicester Square Theatre where they have now happily settled.
Acts from NATYS 2016 have flourished across the comedy world, at Edinburgh and beyond. Last year’s Top of the Bill, Bilal Zafar, completes a run of his solo show, “Cakes”, promoted by Avalon at Soho Theatre, and will be performing after the last act of the evening, before passing on the ROBERSON WINE TOP OF THE BILL accolade.
A panel of comedy cognoscenti, drawn from performers, promoters, punters and the media, will nominate The ‘Roberson Wine Top of the Bill 2017’ award, while representatives of the live comedy circuit rub shoulders, help to fill the acts’ diaries and offer support and encouragement to help the emerging artists to continue to grow their careers.
