Description
Mick Carroll was a well-known and popular local conservationist and birdwatcher who was passionate about wildlife conservation, particularly protection of Birds-of-Prey from persecution and habitat destruction. He died from pancreatic cancer on 21st October 2015, and was nursed in St. Catherine's Hospice for the last weeks of his life. It was his wish to raise funds for the Hospice, and he asked his good friend Andy Rouse, Professional Wildlife and Aviation Photographer, to put on an event. Andy duly obliged, and in February 2016 he gave a wonderful illustrated talk at Scarborough Rugby Club about his photographic experiences over the previous year, enthralling an audience of wildlife and photographic enthusiasts, all of whom agreed it was a truly memorable evening. Unexpectedly, Andy announced he would make it an annual event, so, in 2017, the second Mick Carroll Memorial Event will be held at the same venue on Thursday 23rd February at 7-30pm. Anyone with an interest in wildlife, aviation, and photography will find this a superb night. Andy is a very amusing and animated speaker, and his images are always brilliant. He travels extensively, recently being in India for Tigers, Madagascar for Lemurs and Africa for Gorillas - just a few of his exciting subjects.
Why not make it a day out in Scarborough, culminating in an entertaining evening. The Rugby Club serves food and there is a bar. Parking is no problem. Make sure to book early, as there are only 140 seats available. Tickets can be ordered here at £15 each, or bought on the door at £17-50. Those wishing to make an extra donation to St. Catherine's can do so at the event, and there will be an auction of donated items.
As of 22nd February, ticket sales on-line have closed. A few tickets will be available "on the door" immediately prior to the event.
