Description

People often say how magical it feels on Ramsey Island. It is truly a Jewel in the Crown of Pembrokeshire, and a sanctuary for wildlife. Join Master magician Tom Luddington and RSPB Warden Greg Morgan for a unique Magic themed wildlife walk and boat trip discovering some of the incredible - and very real - magic of the wildlife on Ramsey and beyond...

Meet local master magician and member of the famous Magic Circle Tom Luddington in St Davids at the Oriel Y Parc Information Centre at 15:00 and hop on the mini bus down to St Justinians at 15:30 for a short ferry boat trip over to the Island with Thousand Island's Boat Trips to meet RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) warden Greg Morgan.

On the Island, Tom will use incredible close up Magic, and Greg will use his vast knowledge of wildlife to create a real sense of wonder and tell fascinating stories connected to the wildlife and Magic of Ramsey Island and beyond. Following a short walk, there will be a chance to actually see Shearwater Chicks up close - normally never seen by human eyes - as a select few chicks have their weekly weigh in & health check with Greg. These super cute chicks have one of the greatest challenges in the animal kingdom ahead of them in the next few weeks. How they achieve it is still a mystery to science.

Another short walk over to look down on the majestic Aber Mawr Beach and out to the Bishops and Clarks from some of the tallest cliffs in Wales - with more Seriously Good Magic from Tom - and likely lots more wildlife to see. And then back to the harbour and on to the ferry boat again for the next part of the evening - a Shearwater Safari.

To see the flying carpet of adult shearwaters as they return to the Islands at dusk with food for the chicks is an amazing spectacle. The ferry will head out to the West to give everyone the best seat among thousands upon thousands of sheawaters on the wing - a sight that will never be forgotten.

There is a high chance that we will also see seals popping up here and there, and also many other birds and wildlife that visit or live on the Island or in its waters.

The boat will then head back to St Justinians for around 19:30, and back to St Davids for @20:00

Spaces for this trip are very limited - just 12 to keep the group size on Ramsey small.

So book now to avoid missing out.

Should the weather not be good we will plan to postpone the trip to the following day.
