Description
As part of our commitment to promoting new music from up & coming Scottish bands, we are pleased to welcome two of Aberdeen’s finest, The Little Kicks and Miss Lucid.
The Little Kicks are a 4 piece band who have a reputation for their own distinctive brand of heartfelt electronic indie rock music. The band have a new record set for release in early 2017 which they can’t wait to let the world hear.
The band’s last album, “Put Your Love In Front Of Me” (released in late 2013) was part funded by Creative Scotland and met with critical acclaim both in the UK and further afield in Europe. Several album tracks including the lead single “Girl” and it’s B-side (“a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”) have enjoyed national radio airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, Radio Scotland and XFM. Following the album’s release the band completed three successful headline tours of the UK & Europe to a great response and also toured as main support for Public Service Broadcasting and We Were Promised Jetpacks in the UK. The band and their music is connecting with more and more people and the future is shaping up to be bright for The Little Kicks.
“Ten Scottish bands you might not have heard of but should……could well be one of the next big indie-pop bands”
Q MAGAZINE
“The final group tonight is The Little Kicks, a group from Aberdeen who has already been lauded by many critics and they do not disappoint. Despite appearing reticent, Steven Milne is a real talent who walks around the stage with a confidence that belies his bashful manner when speaking to the audience. The group deserves the adulation they have been receiving; straight to the point and bursting with attitude; a perfect way to close the night.”
THE SKINNY
Miss Lucid offer their own style of 'in your face' rock, driven with the punk/grunge undertones of bands such as The Clash and Nirvana, blending large sonic sound scapes and crafted melodies reminiscent of Placebo and Manic Street Preachers.
This cohesive sound of anthemic and melodic guitars is bolstered with thought provoking, poignant lyricism with an abrasive pop knack.
Miss Lucid decided to start what they call a "real band" once former projects dissolved. Once completing the formation of the band, they released their debut EP, "This Life", in March 2012 closely followed by their second offering, "Feed to Breed" EP.
Since gigging solidly during 2013 and 2014, Miss Lucid have been locked away working on new material and reinforcing their sound. Their debut album is set for release in early 2017.
