"Laddish ne'er-do-wells whose rhyming playground prose is as catchy as a common cold. No, make that catchier!" Dave Henderson, Glastonbury Festival
So far The Jacques hace released two critically acclaimed EP's on The Libertines Gary Powell's label 25 Hour Convenience Store (via Believe Digital)
Both EPs were produced by Dan Swift (Snow Patrol/ Ash) and recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios (Oasis, Stone Roses, Queen). Drummer Elliot Jacque was the youngest drummer, aged 15 to have recorded there.
A collection of the songs and bonus songs have been released as mini albums in both Germany and Japan (via Vinyl Junkie)
The band have played over 100 shows since forming, including UK festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Great Escape, South By Southwest, Secret Garden Party and Isle Of Wight.
They made their London debut in July 2014 as guests of The Libertines at their 65,000 capacity sold out Hyde Park show.
"The sound of a young band doing what they were born to do, full of energy, passion, optimism, belief and excitement "AMP
"Far from being dead, witty, intelligent, challenging guitar driven pop is about to have another one of those moments" XS Noize
"Go get lost in this corker and forget about the real world" We Close Tonight
"The frères Jacque have grown up...The Artful Dodger EP is a raucous, ram shackled yet glorious mess" We Are Unseen
BlackWaters
https://www.youtube.com/
Blackwaters are a fourpiece from the depths of nothingness. And yet despite their murky background, they've turned aggro, pent-up frustration and total utter boredom into rampant, shouty, spit-fuelled, BO-inducing, agitated punk rock'n'roll. Why? Because there's fuck all else to do around here. Guitarist David is the alleged “Baby Spice” of the group, which means he's the one with all the Instagram followers. Ollie – long-haired – plays bass, and barely speaks. Max immediately has an air of geezer – think Moff from 'Human Traffic'. “I'm from Essex unfortunately,” he says. Their first big single 'So Far Out' was written on this sofa. “It was for some coursework I had to do,” says Ollie. Now at the collective age of 18, the lads are finishing up their final year at music college in Guildford – they fast-tracked it. Like most students, they're last-minute crammers. Which means that 'So Far Out' was written the day before Ollie's hand-in. “It's a feisty song!” says Max.
The energy of the song is ten-fold when they play it live. BlackWaters are a statement band, but they're not overtly political in their lyrics. Rather they'd like to be subversive by allowing their peers to break free and channel all their rage and apathy into their fire-starting anthems. Max explains. “'So Far Out' is about how restricted we are when it comes to having a say in things. We can't control anything that happens outside our friendship group really. No one can.” David chimes in. “We're in a boring as fuck town. That's our generation. There's no inspiration, we've got no platform to say anything on. Our age restricts what we can and can't do. If I was born a few days later I'd be able to vote on a decision that will change my life. I'm talking about the Brexit by the way…”
'So Far Out' was produced by Carl Barat [The Libertines] and written almost as a reaction to Brexit, a decision that will impact the lives of these four lads long after their ancestors are gone.“The general message is: Fuck it all!” laughs Max. “Just go and have a good time and write some awesome tunes.”
Moonlands
https://soundcloud.com/
Moonlands mix pop melodies with an ethereal backdrop to create a big atmospheric sound. Their first EP Paradise Blue was featured on BBC Introducing London and Norfolk. Moonlands recently recorded a new EP in a barn in Battle with producer Martin Ruffin, which will be released at the end of this year.
The Step
https://www.facebook.com/
“The Step” is an Indie/Pop/Rock band based in London. Born in 2007 in Rome with Stefano Donato, the band moved to London where Oliviero Fella joined in 2013. After gigging in important venues around London and playing for Noel Gallagher at his official aftershow party in March 2015 the band released their debut EP in December 2014. Their single "Gravity" has been played by 40 regional and student radio stations around UK, and has been nominated "Record Of The Week" on BFBS British Forces Radio and broadcasted in 23 countries.
Their music is a mix of introspective lyrics, bittersweet echoing blends of post-brit and atmospheres coming up from the Italian alternative background. Passionate pianos, jittery guitars, dynamic drums and romantic lyrics are infused with insecurity and doubts as well as with the will to rise and make it, bringing a personal feel to the sound of each track
