Be ready for pretty much anything when JASON COOK takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark, sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places they didn’t want to go. Jason has a way of presenting true-to-life stories that drag you in and won’t let go, close to the edge but always intriguing and blessed with the sort of charm that’ll have you laughing in spite of yourself.
In 2012 Jason’s sitcom “Hebburn” was commissioned by BBC2. Vic Reeves, Gina Mckee, Chris Ramsey and Fresh Meat’s Kimberley Nixon joined the cast in a story based on Jason’s upbringing in the South Tyneside town of Hebburn.
“Jason Cook has more funny in his middle toe than most comics do in their whole body”. Chortle
”As smooth as brown ale…buttock-clenchingly funny”. The Herald
MARKUS BIRDMAN lost all three of his parents at an early age when they leapt from a hot air balloon wearing parakeets. They weren’t dyslexic, they were idiots. Only his father left a good-bye note saying he would miss them. Sadly this proved not to be the case when he landed smack bang on top of Markus’s elder brother.
Maybe you saw Markus lose the BBC and Daily Telegraph New Act 2001 Finals (he was robbed) or in Avalon’s Comedy Zone 2002 (he was robbed again) or in Francesca Martinez’s ‘I’m Perfect’ 2002 (he robbed her). You didn’t see him at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2003, because you don’t have that kind of life. You might have caught him winning the SpikeFest New Act of the Year 2001, if you lived nearby.
Damn it, he’s played every toilet from Berlin to Sydney, from Glastonbury to the Globe Theatre, you must have seen him somewhere. If not then come witness his tall-tales of shooting puffins, Korean lullabies, tickling Germans, how to remove a python from your foot, and a superb joke about rabbis.
‘Controversial, witty, hip and silly – made me laugh so hard it hurt.’ BBC
“Uniquely talented, demonstrates just how it’s done.” Evening Standard
JUSTIN MOORHOUSE is a Manchester born and bred comedian, presenter and actor. He spent a decade working on the UK's biggest provincial radio show, taken several comedy shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, toured the UK with his stand up, been nominated for his theatre acting, appeared in films (including a Ken Loach ) and won Celebrity Mastermind.
In February 2015 Justin performed to over 200 000 people in a 15 night stage version of Channel 4's Phoenix Nights. The critically acclaimed show at the Manchester Arena raised £5 million for Comic Relief. He is also a regular on both TalkSport and Radio 4's The News Quiz. He ended the year with another UK tour - 'Destiny Calling' and the launch of his first DVD - 'Live In Salford'.
Justin's quick fire stand up makes him a natural choice for compering and is much in demand for corporate work. A natural affability endears Justin to any audience and an arsenal of tightly written material firmly hedges the bet.
Justin released his first DVD 'Live In Salford' in November 2015. Filmed beofre a packed house at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays it's available online now at Amazon.
