Description

READY TO GET PHYSICALLY, MUSICALLY, COMICALLY PHYSICAL, COMICAL AND MUSICAL? 11-18 YEARS

Join Claire for an introduction to her physical theatre, clowning and music filled world. Claire will introduce key aspects of clowning, from sharing the failure to status, whilst sharing Lecoq-based tools to find play, joy and connection when creating theatre. Expect a physical workshop of exercises, games and improvisations to unlock aspects of clowning, physical theatre and music in a gloriously silly way.

Bio:

Claire is a Lecoq-trained theatremaker/clown/musician/writer/composer/performer/director with a penchant for the socio-political and the interdisciplinary. She has written and performed two solo shows, Intolerable Side Effects (★★★★ “a hilarious take on one of the most stark issues in the lives of modern women” WeeReview) and Boorish Trumpson (★★★★★ “mesmerising clowning and physicality” Express) which have both toured to Edinburgh fringe and beyond. Boorish Trumpson also features in her short film, Pitchlash, which has been shortlisted for the Funny Women Comedy Shorts Award 2023. She has also devised, performed and composed the music for Cache-Cache, an ensemble led physical theatre show currently touring in France. She regularly directs and movement directs for the outdoor touring Shakespeare company The Three Inch Fools, is a member of the Theatre Cooperative SCRUM, and collaborates in many other exciting ways with lots of other brilliant artists. Her writing has been published in the Streetcake magazine experimental writing anthology and her debut play Hope Is For Tomorrow was shortlisted for the Bold Playwrights scheme. She is also an associate tutor at Guildford School of Acting where she teaches Lecoq and has facilitated theatre, choral and music workshops on both sides of the channel. She will be taking her solo clowning and music filled show, Boorish Trumpson, which was nominated for the Artist Choice Award at Vault Festival 2023, on tour this summer and autumn.

This workshop is for young people aged 11-18. There will also be an opportunity to see Claire putting what we’ll be learning into action in Boorish Trumpson at The Tom Thumb Theatre on 29th September at 7.30pm.
