An informative and inspiring free exhibition, organised by the UK Equality Council and hosted by Centric Community Projects, is being held in Newbury for two weeks starting from the 14th of May.

‘The Equality Exhibition’ focuses on sexism in popular culture, from the #metoo movement to key recent moments and issues behind the headlines.

There is also a great amount of content on race relations and how these have changed and evolved over the years from the 1960s up until now.

This exhibition also celebrates influential women such as political leaders, scientists and amazing women who have changed our world.

This is a touring exhibition and has recently been exhibited in Stockport. Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, said of the exhibition: “This is a fantastic opportunity to understand the current issues on sexism and how the mainstream media portrays race, as well as to learn more about the many strong women who stand in the public eye.

This exhibition also shows how far we’ve come in acceptance and racial equality – there’s still a lot to be achieved, but it’s good to be reminded of the progress that has already been made.”
