Description
The Drouthy Cobbler's monthly comedy club returns with another great line up of Scotland's best stand up comics. The line-up this months is as follows (subject to change at short notice):
Compere - Rick Molland
Finalist in the 2008 Hackney Empire New Act of the Year competition and runner-up in Scottish Comedy Of The Year 2010 – although he's actually from Liverpool.
He is the resident at Edinburgh's Monkey Barrel comedy club,
"The bombastically liberal Molland is the perfect compère" - Three Weeks
"......makes Richard Dawkins look like the Archbishop of Canterbury" - The Scotsman
"childishly smart-arse" - Chortle
Opening Act - Monty Burns
Despite only starting stand-up in March 2013, Monty has commanded an impressive following performing on professional comedy shows all over the UK. This fiery Scot, is an ex-soldier and isn't afraid to talk about the topics other comedians wouldn't dare mention. Monty interacts with the crowd the same way a great white interacts with a harp seal. Do not miss this comedian!
Middle Act 1 - Declan McGuigan
Middle Act 2 - Danielle Paterson
Closing Act - John Scott
John started his comedy career in May 1999, and just two months later he was participating in his first fringe of the Edinburgh Festival in 'Stand up Scotland' - a showcase for the best new talent emerging on the Scottish circuit.
Since that time he has gone on to complete five runs in Edinburgh, won the 'Spike Milligan Award' for new talent 2003, and worked as a sketch performer on numerous BBC TV pilots.
Other work includes being a regular contributor to The Stand comedy clubs current affairs show "A kick up the tabloids" and of course his first love working as a stand up on the British circuit.
More recently John has completed work with Jongleurs and done T.V. warm up for channel 5. He now currently resides in Newcastle where he feels a common kinship with the Geordie. They make him laugh and vice versa.
“A diamond in the rough"
- The List.
“Among the top five new comedians emerging from Scotland today” - The Observer.
“A grungy mix of Billy Connelly and Arragorn. Never hits a dry patch, always plays a blinder. People were in tears of laughter” - Edinburgh Evening News.
'... cheeky, commanding and always oozing charm his hilarious tales of class-based woe never miss the mark and are delivered with killer punch lines...' - Funhouse Comedy
