The Drouthy Cobbler's monthly comedy club returns with another great line up of Scotland's best stand up comics. October's Line up:
MC - Liam Pickford
Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year Runner Up 2015
Well, what can we say about Liam? If Stewart Lee, Jack Dee and Morrissey ever had a child together then Liam is who they would call son. Liam started performing stand up in Manchester in June 2012. His unique style is a breath of fresh air to the circuit with Liam has crafted his own unique brand of stand up, mixing cleverly honed material and punchlines with excitingly unpredictable audience interaction. All this, mixed in with a hint of ‘whimsy’ and clever observations whilst delivered in a wonderfully unenthusiastic and grumpy style. Liam has become a circuit favourite and is destined for big things. A highly intelligent writer and fantastic performer who is as capable doing sets and compering. Liam is an act you will want to book time and time again.
Opening Act - Rahul Kohli
Star of BBC Asian Networks - Big Asian Comedy Night
Chortle Student Comedian Of The Year Runner Up 2016
Rahul as you can see has been a busy boy on his short time on the circuit. Bursting on to the scene back in 2012 in his native Newcastle, Rahul has established himself as one of the most exciting acts to emerge on the circuit in recent years. Mixing both his cultural Asian & Geordie backgrounds to produce a set covering every important issue from race, religion, right through to Paul Gascoigne, Rahul is an act destined for very big things.
‘REVOLUTIONARY’ – BROADWAYBABY
Middle Act - Christopher KC Sit.
Up and coming Glaswegian, young Christopher brings an oriental flavour to his routines, mixing East & West with tales of life in Glasgow
Closing Act - Meryl O,Rourke
Meryl O'Rourke is a multi-talented creative. An established stand-up comic & presenter, she notably supported Frankie Boyle at the Hammersmith Apollo. Also a very highly regarded comedy writer & journalist, she has written for many of the flagship panel shows on BBC, Channel 4 & Dave.
Meryl's cheeky routines of dysfunctionality get her choice gigs with major promoters. These include Up the Creek, Screaming Blue Murder, Off the Kerb, Banana, Comedy Company and The Funny Side; amongst many others. She performs 20-60 min sets, MCs and is also a popular choice for private parties and corporate events.
She runs her own club in Tooting where she is regular MC.
Her solo stand-up show Bad Mother… was a hit at Edinburgh and Brighton festivals. Directed by Foster's Comedy Award nominee Thom Tuck, it received 5-star reviews and was The Times’ Critic’s Choice.
“★★★★★ Truly astonishing show…a must see” The New Current
“★★★★ Her devastatingly direct show stands out for it’s bold, boundary-breaking nature…the shocking casualness of her delivery is spot on.” Jewish Chronicle
“★★★★ Very funny. Tightly written, deftly performed, intimate storytelling and packed with punchlines” TheLatest
